Market Folk: the Dice King & the UnknownMan
Two Market characters who used to just talk now have real business with you.
The Dice King — three dice, one fortune
The Dice King (Market) plays a straight dice duel for silver:
- Pick a stake: 10,000, 100,000, or 1,000,000 silver.
- You roll three dice, he rolls three dice. Higher total takes the pot — win and he pays you your stake on top; lose and it fills his purse.
- Ties go to the King. He says it to your face — that's his edge. Gamble accordingly.
The UnknownMan — one good turn deserves another
A homeless old man idles on the Market, hungry and thirsty. Kindness pays:
- Give him 100 silver for a bowl of noodles.
- He'll ask for DrunkCelestial wine to wash it down — the Twin City Dye Master sells a bottle for 1,000 silver (ask him about good wine).
- Bring the wine, and the grateful old man offers to unlock the secret of the DragonBalls: hand him 1 DragonBall (2 if you are above level 99) and he grants a surge of experience worth 6000 seconds of leveling time — a fortune of levels for a young hero, a respectable boost even late.
- He then needs 12 hours to recover before he can do it again.
ExpBalls now work, too
Double-click an ExpBall in your bag to absorb it: each grants 600 seconds of leveling time as experience, up to 10 ExpBalls a day. (They remain the ProficiencyGod's favorite snack as well.)
How our version differs
- The Dice King's game is an Aurenfall original — classic CO's dice tables came much later.
- The UnknownMan's errand follows the classic "One Good Turn Deserves Another" quest, including the 12-hour rest and the doubled DragonBall price past level 99.
