A pet of your own
In short: Sunfer in Twin City gives you a pet for free if you earn it — five tasks that end with you catching a stray in the pheasant fields yourself.
Not open yet. Pets are still being tested — Sunfer will turn you away for now. This guide is here so it is ready the day she does not.
Who: level 10 to start, level 20 to finish. Where: Sunfer stands a few steps from where you arrive in Twin City; the stray lives in the pheasant fields to the south-east. What you get: a companion that follows you and picks things up off the ground so you do not have to stop for them.
A pet cannot fight. It cannot be hurt, it cannot be killed, and it will never make you stronger or make anything drop more often. What it does is save you steps — and once it has grown, it saves you a lot of them.
What a pet actually does
It walks with you. When something you told it to collect falls near you, it goes and gets it, and the item lands in your bag as if you had clicked it yourself. It respects the same rules you do: it will not touch loot that still belongs to whoever killed the monster, and it will not fetch anything if your bag is full.
That is the whole of it. There is no pet combat, no pet stat, no pet bonus.
Earning one: "The Stray"
Something has been raiding Sunfer's feed store. Talk to her and she will set you on it, one task at a time.
| # | Task | Level | Where |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Find whatever is stealing her grain | 10 | The pheasant fields, south-east of the city |
| 2 | Feed it — five drumsticks | 10 | The same fields; the birds carry them |
| 3 | Clear 20 Apparitions out of the fields | 15 | West of the pheasant grounds |
| 4 | Bring Sunfer one iron ore and 2,000 silver | 20 | The Mine Cave |
| 5 | Catch it with the sack she makes | 20 | Back to the fields |
A few things worth knowing before you start:
- It will run from you. That is not a bug — the first time you reach for it, it bolts. So does the second. It has no reason to trust you yet.
- Drumsticks only drop while you are on the feeding task. Pheasants, Turtledoves and Robins carry them, roughly one bird in two. If you are not on that task, they do not drop at all, so do not go stockpiling them in advance.
- Any iron ore will do. The mine hands out ten grades of it; Sunfer takes the poorest one you are carrying and does not care which.
- The catch takes a few tries. Hold the sack, click the stray, and expect it to slip away once or twice before it decides. Chase it — it does not go far.
When it finally walks into the sack, it is yours on the spot. No trip back to town.
Feeding it
A pet gets hungry, but only while you are online — log out for a week and it will be exactly as you left it. A hungry pet still follows you everywhere; it just stops fetching until you feed it.
Sunfer will fill it up for 2,000 silver (a stray) or 10,000 (a bought coat). That is the only running cost a pet has.
Growing it
A pet learns by doing one errand a day, at Sunfer, and nothing else. There is no pet experience to farm and no way to rush it: one errand, one day.
| Level | What it learns |
|---|---|
| 1 | Follows you; fetches silver within 4 cells |
| 5 | Fetches Meteors; reaches 5 cells |
| 10 | Fetches DragonBalls; reaches 6 cells |
| 15 | Fetches +N stones and gems; reaches 7 cells |
| 20 | Reaches 8 cells |
| 30 | Reaches 10 cells — fully grown |
The stray you catch takes two errands per level; a pet wearing a coat you bought takes one. That is the only difference between them — the free pet is slower to grow, never weaker.
Doing every errand, a bought pet is fully grown in a month and the free stray in two.
Coats
Sunfer keeps other animals, and she will put your pet in a different coat for Conquer Points. A coat changes nothing but the look, and once you have bought one you can switch between everything you own for free.
| Coat | Price |
|---|---|
| Stray | free — the one you catch |
| White Hare, Snow Hare | 400 CPs |
| Pumpkin Crab, Jade Hare | 500 CPs |
| Roaring Chow, Gold Globefish | 600 CPs |
| Tumbling Cloud, Polar Bear | 700 CPs |
| Firebird, Panda | 800 CPs |
| Auspicious Kylin | 900 CPs |
| Saint Dragon | 1,000 CPs |
Conquer Points are earned in the game — a DragonBall is worth 220 of them at the Market — so a coat is a few hours of hunting, not a purchase you have to make.
Telling it what to fetch
Click your own pet (nobody else can) and its menu opens: switch silver, Meteors, DragonBalls and stones on or off, send it home, or call it back. You can also name it at Sunfer, though she will warn you it is not going to answer.
